Recent Incidents January 4, 2012 The Fire Department responded to 509 N. High Street for a report of smoke in the building. Upon arrival firefighters found an apartment on the second floor heavily involved in fire. The building was evacuated and the fire extinguished by fire crews. The fire was started by a pan of grease that overheated on a kitchen range. Damage to the apartment complex was estimated at $50,000.00 December 7, 2011 The Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire 212.5 E Spring Street. Upon arrival firefighters found a fire in the kitchen of an upstairs apartment. The fire was presumed to be started by abandoned smoking materials. The fire caused an estimated $20,000.00 in damage. November 10, 2011 The Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire 809 Bridgewater Ave. Firefighters found a fire in the living room of a downstairs apartment. The fire appeared to be caused by a cord overheating under a baseboard heater. Damage is estimated at $10,000.00 October 18, 2011 The Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 1401 Loffler Court. Firefighters found a fire in a recessed light fixture extending into the home's attic. Damage was estimated at $12,000.00 July 17, 2011 The Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 704 W Willow. firefighters found a fire in the basement of the home caused by an electric range. Damage estimated at $35,000.00 April 20, 2011 3:21 PM The Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 101 E. Vine Street. Upon arrival firefighters found heavy smoke coming from both the first and second floor of a 4 unit apartment building. The property owner was on scene and told us that the fire was in a bedroom in apartment 2, located on the first floor. Firefighters extinguished the fire which was believed to be caused by an electric space heater. Damage was estimated at $50,000. April 12, 2011 The Fire Department responded to Chi Hi for a reported fire in the sawdust collection system outside the wood shop classroom. Firefighters found fire in the collection bags and interior ductwork system. Firefighters dismantled sections of the inside duct work in order to extinguish burning dust inside the building. Twelve firefighters were on the scene for 3 hours extinguishing the fire and ventilating smoke from the school. Damage was estimated at $50,000. February 04, 2011 12:04 am The Fire Department was dispatched for the report of a fire at 121 W. Spring Street near the downtown area. The two story house was separated into three apartments with one on each level. Upon arrival firefighters found the basement level apartment with fire and smoke showing in the rear. All tenants had evacuated by firefighters arrival. The fire was quickly extinguished. Fire damage was confined to the basement apartment. Both upper level apartments sustained smoke damage. Damage is estimated at $50,000.00 November 11, 2010 The Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 732 Wilson Street on the city's south side. Upon arrival units found heavy flame and smoke coming from the structure. The fire was quickly brought under control. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No one was home at the time of the blaze. Initial damage estimates are $60,000.00 June 20,2010 The Fire Department responded to a structure fire in a one story single family residence at 809 Grant Street. Firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the residence and quickly extinguished the fire. Fire damage was confined to the kitchen area with smoke damage throughout. No one was home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries. Damage was estimated at $50,000. March 30, 2010 The Chippewa Falls Fire & Emergency Services Department was called to a structure fire at a one story, brick duplex located at 512 & 514 Terrace Drive at 09:03am.Upon arrival firefighters found smoke and flames coming from the basement of both units. The fire was extinguished with pre-connected hose lines. March 25, 2010 The Chippewa Falls Fire & Emergency Services Department responded to 925 First Avenue for a report of a fire in an air handling unit. Upon arrival firefighters found fire in a welding booth's air cleansing unit. The fire was extinguished using hand held fire extinguishers
