Can I park my car on the street overnight?
Overnight parking on city streets is restricted city-wide between November 15th and March 31st.
City ordinance prohibits the parking of vehicles on city streets for more than 30 minutes between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.
This restriction applies to the downtown business district year round.
Is it legal to park a semi-trailer on city streets?
City ordinance prohibits the parking of semi-trailers on city streets except when in the process of loading or unloading their contents.
It is illegal for a semi-trailer operator to “drop” a trailer on city streets.
How can I get copies of reports from the police department?
Citizens can request copies of accident reports and other police reports by mail, fax (715-723-1456) or by stopping at the Police Department between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Depending on the size and type of document requested, it may take several days to respond to requests.
When I dial 9-1-1 why is there a delay before the ringing starts?
When you dial 9-1-1 there is a delay of up seven seconds from the time you complete dialing until you hear the telephone start to ring.
The routing of your call through the Ameritech equipment to the 911 Dispatch Center causes this delay.
Once you have dialed, stay on the line and your call will be completed.
Where can I purchase a dog or cat license?
Licenses for dogs and cats can be purchased at the Police Department during normal business hours.
Every owner of a dog or cat more than 5 months of age on March 1 or 5 months of age within the license year shall annually or 30 days from date of such dog or cat becoming 5 months of age purchase a license.
Proof of vaccination and if animal is neutered or spayed must be shown at time of license purchase. Neutered Males and Spayed Females are $ 8.00 per year or part thereof. All Others are $13.00 per year or part thereof.
An additional penalty fee of $ 5.00 shall be added for any license purchased after April 1.
How do I dispose of yard waste and brush?
City residents may take yard waste and brush to the drop-off site behind the City Street Department at 5 Riverside Drive from mid April to mid November.
The drop-off site is open on weekdays, excluding Holidays, from 7:00 a.m. – 2:45 p.m. and on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Property owners have 24 hours after a snowfall to remove the snow from their sidewalks.

When will property tax bills be mailed?
Property tax bills are mailed by the City Treasurer in mid-December after the budgets and tax rates are completed for all taxing jurisdictions.
The bill you receive will include taxes for the City of Chippewa Falls along with levies for Chippewa County, Chippewa Falls Area Schools, Chippewa Valley Technical College and the State of Wisconsin.
Where do I pay my property taxes?
City of Chippewa Falls residents may pay their tax bills in one payment by January 31st, or in 2 installments on January 31st and July 31st.
All payments through January 31st are collected at the City Treasurer's office located in the City Hall Building, 30 West Central Street, Chippewa Falls.
City Hall office hours are 8:30 a.m. - noon and 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Second installment payments due July 31st are collected at the Chippewa County Treasurer's office located at the Chippewa County Courthouse, 711 N. Bridge Street, Chippewa Falls. Courthouse hours are 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Taxes remitted by mail are considered paid on the date of the postmark.
Where do I register to vote?
City residents may register to vote at the City Clerk’s office in City Hall, any day from 8:30 a.m. to noon or 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.

Where should I put my recycling container?
Please place your recycling bin in the boulevard where it is easily seen and
accessible on your designated pick up day. During the winter months please
protect your recycling bin from snow and ice, and during the summer from rain, by
keeping it in your garage or inside your home. If it is snowing on the day or night
before your pickup, please protect it by putting a plastic bag or something else
over the top to prevent the recyclables from getting wet when set out for
pickup. Avoid placing the bins on the top of the snow banks, as well, as it places
the collection employees in danger due to slippery conditions.

Xcel Energy maintains the street lights in the City of Chippewa Falls. To report a street
light outage call 1-800-628-2121 or go to www.xcelenergy.com, select Wisconsin and under the "Outages" tab select
"Street Light Outages". Fill out necessary data to file the report.
